How Silicone Wristbands can be Used to Express Emotions

We all have good days and bad days. Sometimes a simple ‘how are you?’ is too much to answer.

 

Why are Silicone Wristbands used for emotional and physical awareness?

It may surprise people, but wristbands are often used in practices to help children and young people express their emotions or physical needs without pressure. Silicone, in particular, is often the first wristband choice for awareness wristbands. Mainly, because they are reusable and easy to slip on. Their popularity is down to their comfortable material, easy application and durability. Companies, carers and mostly, young people themselves, use custom silicone wristbands to express their feelings or alert others to their physical needs without the anxiety that comes with conversation.

 

Emotional Support

Simple one worded printed silicone wristbands are extremely popular, such as a green wristband with the word ‘happy’ on. Other one sentence wristbands are also used, for example, ‘Today is a good day.’ It’s a simple and yet, brilliant idea for young people to convey their emotions in a safe and non-violent way. The colour scheme is also rather simple. Green is associated with goodness, while red is the connotative colour for danger. As such, the respected colours are used to represent positive and negative moods. However, there is no ‘norm’ and other colours can be used to represent different emotions. For example, blue can be used for sad, yellow for happy, or grey for lonely.

Physical Support

Do you have an allergy which may require attention? Physical support wristbands are essentially a wristband which alerts others to your physical needs. Often, these wristbands are allergy related or refer to religious believes, and are mainly used in educational environments. A sample would be of a lunchtime dinner wristband or offsite visits / trips emergency contact wristbands.

Segmented Half & Half Wristbands

A cheaper option than reversible wristbands. Half & Half is literally what it says. The wristbands are half 1 colour and half another. Designs are kept to the outside of the band, usually in 1 colour, though you can opt for different colours on different segments. Note, however, segments are not perfectly aligned as colours can run. You don’t have to stop at half and half. Order up to 6 segments on your wristband. Keep the cost down by having the same 2 colours segmented into 6. Play around with colour. Remember, no more than 6 segments can go on a wristband before it becomes marbled. (Not that we’re complaining! Marbled wristbands are actually really pretty.)

 

Inside & Outside Wristbands

Reversible wristbands. Simple reversible wristbands usually have 2 designs, 1 on the outside and 1 on the inside, but both are kept in the same print / ink colour. The band can be a solid colour to keep costs down. Or, if you’re feeling really creative, the outside of the band can be a different colour to the inside.
